Micky Rakotondrabe graduated from the Institut Catholique des Arts et Métiers (ICAM engineering school,
Lille France) in 2002, obtained the MSc on Control Systems from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA, Lyon France) in 2003 and the PhD on
Control Systems from the University of Franche-Comté at Besançon (UFC Besançon France) in 2006. His PhD research was led at
FEMTO-ST Institute, Besançon France. He was assistant professor at UFC University
and FEMTO-ST Institute in 2006-2007. Since sept 2007, he is associate professor at the same University and Institute. His research fields concern the design, modeling, signal estimation and control
techniques for piezoelectric actuators in general and for microsystems.
Micky Rakotondrabe was the UFC-best phd thesis finalist; and obtained the ICARCV-2006 best paper award finalist, the CASE-2011 best application paper award finalist and the Romanian-Scientific-Activity-Award (shared with a
Romanian colleague) in november 2011. He holds the French Excellence-Activities-Award (PES) since October 2011. Micky Rakotondrabe participated to the
control of the French-team mobile microrobot that holds the IEEE-NIST Mobile Microrobot International Challenge Awards several times
(1st prize on speed in 2010, in 2011 and in 2012). In july 2011,
Micky Rakotondrabe obtained a CNRS-delegation award for one year (2011-2012). Micky Rakotondrabe is co-inventor of 3 patents, and co-editor of the book
"Signal measurement and estimation techniques issues in the micro/nano world", edited book, Springer - Verlag, ISBN 978-1-4419-9945-0, August 2011,
and editor of the book "Smart materials-based actuators at the micro/nano-scale: characterization, control and applications", edited book, Springer - Verlag, New York, ISBN 978-1-4614-6683-3, april 2013.
He has organized several workshops on control of and on signal estimation in systems working at the microscale:
at IEEE-ICRA-2009 (Kobé, Japan),
IEEE-ICRA-2010 (Anchorage Alaska USA),
IEEE-ICRA-2011 (Shanghai China) and
IEEE-CASE-2011 (Triesta Italy). He was visiting professor at
the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA, 1month, November 2011) where he has held at the same
time a guest lecturer position on MicroRobots Control, and visiting professor at
the University of Newcastle Australia (a quarter, 2012).
Micky Rakotondrabe was awarded the national ANR emerging projects grant for research-to-industry transfer (ANR-MyMeSyS project)
in 2011 and the national ANR young investigator award (ANR-C-MUMS project) in 2012.
